Terms of Use

Last updated

This site is run by Peter Laliberte and publishes lessons in various topics. Using the site means accepting the terms below.

The licence

The lessons on this site are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. In plain terms, you are free to:

You do not need to ask permission, and you do not need to pay. The one condition is attribution.

What attribution means

If you share a lesson, or publish anything built on one, credit the source. Name Peter Laliberte, link back to this site, and say whether you changed anything. A line like this is enough:

Based on "Math Operators in GDScript" by Peter Laliberte (mrlaliberte.com), used under CC BY 4.0. Adapted from the original.

Credit it in a way that suits the medium, and do not imply that the original author endorses you or your version. You may not add legal terms or technical measures that stop anyone else doing what this license allows.

Code examples

Code in the lessons is there to be typed, run, changed, and used in your own projects. Take the code freely and without attribution. That is what it is for. The license above is about the writing, not the snippets it teaches.

What is not covered

The site's own name, design, and logo are not part of the license, so a copy of a lesson should not look like it came from this site. Images inside a lesson may belong to someone else, and are only included where their own terms allow it; if you reuse a lesson wholesale, check its images.

Any other names, logos, or trademarks that appear here belong to their respective owners and are used only to refer to those things.

Using the site itself

The license covers the content, not the machine serving it. Please do not attempt to reach the editing controls or the underlying server, and do not scrape heavily enough to disrupt the site for anyone else.

Accuracy

These materials are updated every so often as I have to teach a new class on the topics. With that in mind, they are kept current as well as one person reasonably can. Software changes, and a lessons accuracy when written can drift out of date. Nothing here is a warranty that a technique is correct, current, or suited to your project.

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, and the Creative Commons license itself offers none. Peter Laliberte is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site or its materials, to the extent the law allows. Follow instructions on your own equipment at your own risk, and back up work that matters to you.

Availability

This is a personally run site. It may be offline for maintenance, may change, and may have material added or removed at any time without notice. Do not rely on it as the only copy of something you need. If a lesson matters to you, save it. The license on a lesson you already have does not expire.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the site owner resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version always appears here, with the date it changed at the top.
